What is a strata title?
A strata title is a form of property ownership designed for multi-level apartment blocks, in which the owners own their individual unit in addition to a share of the common areas in the property.

Multi-level apartment
This type of ownership was originally introduced in the state of New South Wales in Australia in 1961, and is now adopted in apartment ownership in various countries including Canada, South Africa, Singapore and the Philippines. Strata title permits the horizontal subdivision of property into separate titles. This means that though the owners have communal rights over whole property, they do have separate, individual rights.
